Meet Tony

Anton (Tony) Tichy is an experienced educator and advocate dedicated to supporting students’ academic and personal growth. Raised in Skokie, Tony graduated from Niles North High School in 1987 before attending Missouri Southern on a baseball scholarship. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education in 1992, majoring in elementary education with a minor in emotional disturbances, and completed his master’s degree in education from National Louis University in 1994.

Tony began his career as a one-on-one assistant at Deerpath Middle School in Lake Forest and then served as a teacher and case manager at Maryville Academy in Des Plaines. He spent 33 years at Niles North High School in various roles, including leading the transition program for students with emotional disturbances and working in co-taught classrooms for over a decade. Tony also contributed four years at Niles Central, an in-district behavior placement school, where he ran the Success Track program focused on supporting the district’s most challenging students.

As a certified CPI instructor for 15 years, Tony trained staff and security in non-violent crisis intervention techniques. Throughout his career, he has been a dedicated case manager and a leader in areas ranging from literacy to behavior management, advocating for expanded co-taught classes to better serve students’ needs.

Tony’s coaching experience spans 34 years in high school sports, including girls' basketball, boys' soccer, and baseball. He integrates coaching strategies with teaching to motivate and inspire both players and students. Known for fostering strong relationships that promote student success, Tony approaches his work with a growth mindset and unwavering commitment. His guiding motto, shared with his father, is "Work Hard, Play Hard!"
